My occupational therapy instructor is intimidated by Sally, my beloved TI-83 Plus graphing calculator. Come to think of it, my mother's not too fond of her, either - she claims there are too many buttons, which is a bit ridiculous as the basic operations she needs when she borrows Sally are all clearly labeled. Even my dad harbors a not-so-secret antipathy toward Sally - if it's not reverse polish notation and/or made by Texas Instruments, he deems it calculator spawn of the devil. OK, he doesn't, but if he used more colorful language he would.

you named your calculator?? Well, i guess if my friend's flamingo tattoo is Georgette, and another's car is the Good Ship Light Thingy, then why not a calculator?

My calculator has been one of my best friends when it comes to tackling nasty integrals/calculating sums of squares; she has yet to fail me on a test or quiz even when the 'low battery warning' lasted 4 hours. The least I could do for her was give her a name.

Good Ship Light Thingy is the most brilliant name for a car ever. Seriously.

I also have a garden gnome named Jean Gnome, but I have to give the credit for that name to my mother.

ah, see, i dislike math so i have never been quite that attached to my calculator.

I believe the name Good Ship Light Thingy was something that i said in a moment of either caffeine induced hyperactivity or sleep deprivation(god knows what the context was), and thus became the name of the car we were in at the time.
