balancing act

I'm actually going to turn in early for once as I haven't been able to fall asleep until 4 these past couple of nights. And for once upon coming back to LALAland, my hands don't feel like they've been dipped in ice. The rest of me feels normally responsive to external temperature, but for some reason my feet and hands operate within a different perceived external temperature environment. I seriously can't fathom how anyone can live outside of California.

I hate feeling like I have to trade safety and possibly furniture for proximity to campus and lower rent in finding a place to live next year. Out of all of my roommates, I'm the most willing to risk bodily harm, which Rose has wisely pointed out makes me an idiot rather than brave. Unfortunately there are certain compromises one has to make.

I really should've brought warmer socks from home. As for gloves, they're depressingly hard to find in LA, besides which I have to wear children's gloves because my hands are disproportionately small. I do appreciate the advice, though. How cold is it in Scotland right now?
