I seem to go through water bottles the way some of my floormates go through shot glasses. Seriously, I've recycled five bottles starting from this morning. I tend to get really thirsty when writing papers or studying for some reason.

It's been nice talking to friends from my old life lately; I always feel behind in trying to catch up with random people just because there are so many people with whom I'd like to keep in touch. It's funny how separated middle/high school and college are in my mind. I do tend to suffer from nostalgia at indiscriminate times but never homesickness. There's something refreshing about having a clean break with the familiar, knowing that everything has its rightful time and place.

I'll be heading back home for the first time since I've moved in for the first weekend in November, so if you're around and not too busy perhaps we can hang out. I arrive late Friday afternoon and leave on Sunday in the early evening.

I'm starting to understand why blooper reels are so popular; the outtakes for Birnkrant 616 (I can't stop the self-pimpage here, honest) somehow manage to be even more hilarious than the scenes themselves. Seriously, I was crying from laughing so hard during the screening of the past week's worth of shooting. It's a pity I'll be missing the next taping of the other show I work on, Mind Games, to copy edit and shoot more Birnkrant 616. Thankfully the next six days worth of shooting looks more merciful than it was earlier, especially since my midterms will be over on Tuesday. And now I'd be best off finishing up my paper.

That would be cool. I'll be at Stanford for the football game that weekend; perhaps we could meet up beforehand or afterwards?

Thank you! You have a lovely Jane as accompaniment. I made a bunch of Timothy Dalton icons some time ago here (http://community.livejournal.com/retro_activity/11380.html#cutid1) because I had trouble finding any. [/shameless self-pimpage]

You've got a much more legitimate reason than I do; I'll just drink any bottle of water within arm's reach. I used to use my roommate's Brita water filter container, but I ended up drinking so much that I'd refill it at least twice a day. We now have one, but I suspect that we'll be going back to the water filter after I go through the rest of the bottles.

I plan on making some Danger Man season 1 icons within the next few weeks once I get the DVDs :)

Drake does seem to have a soft spot for French singers (Nicola and Marie come to mind), so I could see him liking Holden. "Une Fraction de Seconde" could work as a "Mio Amore Sta Lontano"-ish piece, maybe even during the café scene with Marie when he's trying to convince her to sit for him. I can imagine him putting on "Ce que je suis" after heading back to his empty apartment at the end of AYGTBMP and staring off into space with a glass of whiskey and a cigarette.

Which Holden song, if any, do you think he'd like the best?

so MANY pretties of TD! i may have to snatch a few! i've always been partial to the TD interpretation of mr. rochester. for some reason he just fits. i know rochester's not supposed to be handsome, but i loved TD when i saw that version at 16. he just made my heart melt. it's a very theatrical production but it is insanely faithful to the book, and so i love it more than any other.

the only actor i can see in the role who might have worked is oliver reed, and sadly he's dead, and i have a feeling his innate sexism and weirdo bossiness might have come through anyhow--so looks-wise yes, a good fit, acting-wise and personality-wise? probably not so much.

drake and his little french chanteuse girls! i guess this is precisely why i can see him liking holden. the song des demain in particular. i see him sitting on a beach in a banana republic somewhere, smoking his cheroot and listening to this strangely compelling little tune after a hard day's work.

i think if drake listened to enough holden he would eventually become a full-fledged romantic and just chuck the service and run away with one of the chanson-singers, eventually.
