I just got my AP scores back-they're all 5's! How the heck did that happen with calculus?!
[/gloating]

And apparently I can read at 475 words/minute with a 64% comprehension rate, which sounds a little low for me. You can take the test here.

theladyrose is happy.

Those were the only two tests I took. I found out my scores by looking at my oosk (random nickname for USC) transfer credit report-the College Board sends the scores out to the universities first, I guess, before they do it for individual students.

Many thanks, and congrats on your great scores, too!

I got mine by looking at my USC transfer credit report online :) I got the official letter from the College Board today as confirmation.

Better to read and remember what you just read than skim and forget it all, I guess.

Yon Finances

Yeah... the problem with that is, I didn't really like Boston University at all. As I sort of wrote later, they sort of try to say "WAARGH LOOK AT ALL OF OUR ALUMNI AREN'T THEY SO COOL" and that's really not the sort of thing I wanted to see emphasized at all. Also they spelled Jhumpa Lahiri's name wrong, and that stings me, in a slightly elitist sort of way.

Still, your point is definitely considered. My parents are very responsible and have laid some amount of money down for me year to year for college (bless them! bless them, i say!).

This doesn't actually mean that it's going to be easy for me, of course, with tuitions as exorbitant as they are, and I'm still going to have to take out loans and stuff, and work on getting merit scholarships. Also, I think my grades may mean less weighted against the grades of my competitors here in CT, because I have no doubt that wherever you went there was significantly less grade inflation.

Um, so, yeah. Congrats on the AP scores!

Don't really know who you are, or where you be going, but any guidance at all is always appreciated. Thanks!

I wasn't terribly fond of BU, either; I've heard their intro core classes aren't very good, and most of the students I know there like Boston more than the college itself. The only thing I really know about it is that they have one of the best anxiety and fear treatment centers in the US; I heard a great talk in a summer class I took from a speaker there.

And yeah, spelling errors in general tend to stick a college in the reject pile for me. I got a letter from one college whose opening line wasn't even grammatically correct which pretty much killed any interest I might have had. Some might call it elitist; I prefer to rationalize it as having basic standards.

From what I can tell, each college tends to recalculate GPAs just to even out the inflation/deflation playing field. You sound like a very intelligent person and a strong student so I don't think you should worry.

I'll be a student at USC (University of Southern California) next year, and I will shamelessly promote the school in terms of scholarship programs-seriously, it's one of the most generous ones I've come across, and they make an effort to support students of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Finances weren't the greatest concern for me (much gratitude to the parents), but on a whim I decided to apply by the December 10 deadline, which automatically considers all students for the big merit scholarships. I was really lucky and now don't have to pay four years of tuition.

Thanks, and best of luck with the college situation. Feel free to ask me about college-related things; I hope I can help people out. And sorry for the random intrusion.

It is a really ridiculous "test"-but hey, it's advertising. You didn't really need to read the section very carefully to get the answers right-I think I clicked on one or two answers that I didn't mean to click.
