I'm back from USC as of yesterday, and both Ellie and I were quite impressed by the place. Watch me change my mind in April...or not. I am not ashamed to admit that I nearly kissed the doors of the music scoring stage-Elmer Bernstein probably touched them, considering that he taught there for some time. But as there were several cinema-television majors giving me strange looks, I settled for two pictures instead. I'm definitely not in need of a social life, I swear!

I finally caught some of the Olympics-my host, her other hostees, her roomates, and I saw the end of the women's free skate. Someone (probably [livejournal.com profile] dragonfly66) will probably want to hit me over the head with a frying pan for saying this, but I was a little bored. I haven't really been missing out on much-I'm more of a Summer Olympics kind of girl to be honest.

As I seem to have finally gotten all of my work done for once, I've been catching up on some cult TV lately-the Prisoner and the Man from UNCLE (for which I have the cheesiest fan T-shirt idea ever). Can someone please tell me *why* Ilya Kuryakin is either put behind bars or dangled by his wrists from the ceiling/chained by the wrists on the walls in 7/8ths of the episodes I watched? Isn't David McCallum afraid of heights?

"No offense to my alma mater (Stanford), but...yeah, I feel like Counterpoint was a better-quality rag."

This totally made my night! Well, it's roughly 1:55 in the morning, but you get my point, I hope. I miss Caitlin and her awesomely snarky movie reviews and how she could totally beat up the Clam in a battle of wits. I don't mean to belittle my lovely co-editor and staff, but Caitlin is teh awesome incarnate.

Spielberg actually donated that scoring stage. When I was at SC, there was a very nice Neve console. The tragedy was that only the film school sound students were allowed to run it, which resulted in numerous ruined recordings for myself and my fellow film scoring students.

How much access do the film scoring students have in there, then?

Yep, yep, yep. :) But the lady fans loved it!!! If only they could've put Solo in more delicious peril... (Then again, there's always "The Gurnius Affair.")

Are you watching the new Hustle series on AMC? It's so fantastic to see Robert Vaughn in a great weekly TV role again. And with McCallum on NCIS, that means they're both on hit shows, going strong in their mid-seventies. Eat that, THRUSH. *wink*

I must confess that I don't object, either :) They do seem to enjoy dangling Solo from his wrists and tying him up as well in a few episodes.

I just started watching Hustle and am loving it! It has such a 60's episodic spy mission vibe, and I love the accompanying music. Alas, I didn't realize about McCallum, though; I'll have to keep my eye out for NCIS. Thanks for telling me :)

Now if only I could get my hands on a few more UNCLE episodes!

For now, I'm going to politely forget that you profess love for USC, and we can have a huge Bitch Slap Fight later about it, ok? Anyway, yes, Caitlin beating the intellectual crap out of the Clam was about as fun as...watching the Winter Olympics! That is to say, a whole lot of fun. What were you watching? Because I'm more than willing to admit that while 4 men hurtling down an ice track at 90 miles an hour is cool in concept, it's exceptionally boring to watch. And, um, on a slightly related note

UCLA PWNS USC. Like woah, kiddo.

Caitlin is more awesome than the Winter Olympics by far, but I might be really biased because she laughed at my awesomely cheesy headlines. Or maybe I'm just dated about seeing people sliding around at crazy speeds on snowy terrain/ice.

Heh, I still prefer USC but I can tell you about that later. I lied about hating UCLA, though. I just can't see myself going there; that's all.

Oh...I miss Caitlin too, and, in a strange sort of way, the clam. Her stupidity was actually rather amusing at times.

ps I used two Counterpoints as an envelope today :)

The Clam-in retrospect she could be amusing, but there were many instances in which I really wanted to strangle her.

Which Counterpoints did you use?
