I always assumed that I'd be better at writing as I grew older and stayed in school. You know, write one of those magically insightful essays that would demonstrate my profound knowledge of some literary masterpiece.

HAHAHAHA. Doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon. I think my Mrs. Dalloway essay ought to go get run over by the next incoming train because my attempts at analysis and eloquence are total tripe.

The longer I remain in IHL literature classes, the more I can feel my love for literature curl up into a ball and hide somwhere in the basement. Then again, I don't have a basement.

Erm, yes, I'm not exactly done yet...

Yeah. That's exactly why I dropped out of the honors program altogether. Plus I've always found the regular courses FAR more educational than their honors counterparts. English honors program: "bash your head against these ten books until your eyes pop out, then write an analysis on the goo that was once your brain." Regular English program: "Here's a relative clause, how to use it, and how it will help you in your daily life. Did you know philosophy is interesting? Have a cup of tea."

Yeah. I'm sorry *pat pat* Don't worry though, it doesn't get any better with time. (See? No need to worry! You know what to expect. Okay, my jokes are horrible tonight. I'm done). Goodluck hun. Ciao.

Tea? I could do regular English if there were lots of tea involved :D

Nothing to be sorry about. I'm mostly just surprised by my lack of motivation more than anything else when it comes to English classes-I'm quite happy to dump several gallons of vitriol on film score composers who disappoint me!

Have I mentioned that I failed English three times in high school for the same reason? I love writing. I'm somewhat good at it when I put my mind to it. I just cannot stand English classes. I'm impressed you've lasted this long with your motivation intact. You and I would have gotten along well in middle school. I was a total work-a-holic.

You're not somewhat good at writing; you're great. If I've learned anything about English classes, it's that it's a great time to work on really scathing op-ed pieces. I can go about a week and a half without saying anything in class (my record is two and a half, I think) and make up for it by turning in my essays on time.

I don't really remember you as a workaholic. I can picture you as one, though.

I'm sorry dearie. If it helps, I myself have lost absolutely all faith in my wrting integrity. Don't know why that would help, actually.

But you have to get more brownie points from the literature gods for the fact that you actually try still.

Heh, thanks. I wouldn't be worried about your writing integrity, though. Your essay sounded like the best one out of the excerpts read aloud during class yesterday, though.

I hate to point this out dear, but you DO have a basement, filled with wire-eating rodents that I'm sure would love to snack on your love of literature. But yes, "smack" totally kills any love for enlish that may have developed in previous years.

Hmph. It's not a real basement as it's not actually underground; technically it's on the first floor. Remember, my house is built on a freaky mountain-hill thing, so what would normally be underground on level ground...isn't.

You're right about those damned mice, though. They haven't been too hungry lately, and my dad's done more wireless networking stuff so hopefully that will minimize the number of wires eaten.

Hee, it's called "smack"? I'll have to use that term more often :D
