I just saw a bluejay kill a mouse by Good Court.

But aren't bluejays seed eaters, i.e. herbivores? I didn't think that they were strong enough to fly off with a dead mouse in their beaks, either.

I'm terribly disturbed. I didn't even realize that there were mice running around campus in daylight.

I know that I'm not being a weirdo narcoleptic because someone else was there when I saw it and was equally disturbed.

It wasn't nearly as amusing for you; you didn't get to see the freaky bluejay peck violently at the thrashing mouse's neck. Eurgh...

Hehe yeah. Blue Jays eat seeds, but also insects, frogs, mice, even eggs of other birds. Sometimes they flock together and take down a baby deer.

This is the point when I look stupid and naive and totally freaked out by that last sentence of yours.

And I always thought that bluejays were nice little birds that never really bothered anyone. They're out to get us after all!

I'm not going to mention the fact that a BLUEJAY DECAPITATED MY DUCKLING. But maybe I will.

It's a conspiracy of bluejays to go around killing things! They are seriously starting to scare me.

Bluejays hang out in front of my deck and steal catfood, too. They have a contest going with the raccoons.

Cat food? As in canned cat food or some other kind?

No, they swoop down from a nearby tree and grab a mouthful of kibble. Often while a kitten is eating.
