Edit: All of my icons can now be found at my icon journal,
retro_activity.
I need to get Photoshop onto Karen, my laptop, because I am really starting to get sick of the limited editing functions of Microsoft paint. Yeah, so maybe it's easier to shrink things (sort of) in sizes of perfect squares. That's about it. Even trying to add simple text is a pain, let alone color touchups and basic GIF animation. I can always use the library computers to further edit, but the whole transferring of files from one computer to another is getting tiresome.
But I finally got around to doing all of those Vertigo icons, and they don't seem to be too bad.
Vertigo poster artwork:
I did some touch ups on the icons this morning, so you can see the original titles, posters, et al. underneath the originals. I also did a few primitive animated icons, but I'll be working some more on Carlotta's portrait as it's not as long as I'd like it to be right now.

If you know where I can find the original font used on the poster, please tell me! I'm working with a poor substitute at the moment.

Vertigo titles:

Note: this title spiral is actually from the Vertigo AMC documentary found on the DVD. I thought it looked pretty cool anyway.

The coloring of the eye is different, I know, but the lighting is slightly different and I couldn't figure out how to keep the same hues for both.

I sorta played around with the inverse color thingy and liked the way it looked as it actually goes with my LJ color theme. Go figure.

I like the touch ups of those first two inverse color ones the best, personally.

I prefer the untouched-up version, actually.

The eye closeups in the titles looked terrible with the inversed color so I kept the original. I might do some animations of the inverted color ones tomorrow if I have time.
I attempted to do an animated version of Carlotta's portrait, but I've been meaning to add a few more images to the animation so I'll work on that some more tomorrow.

OK, and this is my sort of calling card icon/avatar reedited to a bigger size.

It's from the reillustrated cover of the first edition of Ian Fleming's From Russia With Love that I thought looked tremendously cool.

The original paperback art looks like this:

Many thanks to Red for letting me steal it from his site.

Date: 2005-04-22 05:30 am (UTC)That's probably my favorite Fleming paperback art, although the other first edition illustrations by Richard Chopping are quite superb. You can see some more of them here:
