You shouldn't apologize at all; it's good that you're so passionate about this issue. It was so sobering to hear about these women who felt that they had no other way to protect themselves than to do what they did to their abusive husbands. It's more important than ever to create safe spaces for everyone, particularly women, and not just focus on providing a haven for when abuse goes to the extreme.
