Heh. Do you think your parents didn't have sex? Of course they did! And so did the characters on old shows.
The thing was, it wasn't as blatant and spelled out as it is now. It was *subtle*. Because the entire family was watching (there were only three networks after all) everything had several meanings --- an innocent one for the kids and and cues for the adults.
I once taught "Sunset Boulevard" in a film class and had to explain to my students that William Holden's character was being kept by Gloria Swanson and that they were having sex. Nobody realized it. They all thought she was buying those nice clothes for him for free!
