Believe me, theres nothing freaky or crazy about how you feel; it's estimated that 1 percent of the population identifies as asexual without necessarily knowing what that label is. Many asexuals seek and are in romantic relationships. It's more difficult to find a partner who's accepting of asexuality and willing to 'work' around it, but there are still a number of non-asexuals who are supportive in these kinds of platonic relationships. There's even an asexual online classified ads site to help asexuals find each other, although the population is a little smaller than the 'normal' online dating pool :)
If you're interested in learning more about asexuality and figuring out whether or not it's something you identify with - sorry, my grammar is atrocious - you might be interested in the Asexuality Visibility and Education Network site.

The LJ asexuality community has some interesting discussions and is a good place to ask questions about pretty much anything. Folks in both communities are pretty open-minded.
