don't sweat the petty; pet the sweaty
Jun. 3rd, 2005 11:05 pmI am very tempted to take the nearest hammer and smash up a certain ornery computer with it as it refuses to recognize any CDs that I stick into either of its CD-ROM drives (apparently the external one that my father tried connecting won't work, either). The only CD it seems to recognize is disk one of the Sims 2 game, and I was stupid enough to uninstall it without double checking to see whether or not my forced copying of updated game files from Carey (my laptop) to this computer would actually still let me play using that CD. So now I can't reinstall the regular Sims 2, and it is all very frustrating as I've been waiting weeks to finally be done with schoolwork and become a computer game addict before I'm off for summer classes.
In the meantime I'm trying to move a certain packaged lot from the defective computer onto my laptop, but even that seems to be having problems because the home network is being obnoxious again. I'm convinced that computers are like goats or donkeys in that once you think you've managed to tame them, they find a new way to make trouble for you.
It looks like we will have to possibly replace the computer which can't recognize CDs as even my father (and possibly my godfather as well) is apparently stumped.
