shiny pretty things---or maybe not
Jul. 8th, 2004 01:13 pmAll alone in the office now-need a prank caller! Or just someone to call before I go mad. I can at least turn up the Thomas Crown Affair almost as loud as I want while working. I'm not actually slacking off that much at the moment even though there's literally no one to supervise me, not even Christina. They're at a staff meeting dealing with depressing numbers across the hallway. I'm procrastinating on calling back people on the hotline, which is not very nice of me but after dealing with at least fifty (I've kept count) indecisive middle-aged mothers and gruff terse businessmen I'm getting rather annoyed. 12 calls a day yields on average 1 ticket order over the phone. C'est angoissant, vraiment!
I just started translating Huis clos as my summer French project, and it's harder than I thought. Translating into English from French in general is easier than the other way around, but it's hard to convey some of the same nuances in the language. Parts of what I've got sound rather stilted, I admit, but I'm working on it. I finished the first scene over the weekend and am about to do 2 and 3 (2 is pretty short, anyway). Oish.
